Popular Santa's Lapland FAQs
For more frequently asked questions, please visit our FAQ page.
Is my holiday affected by the situation in the Middle East?
We know there’s been a lot of news around the situation in the Middle East. The simple answer is that everything is running as normal for Santa’s Lapland and there’s no impact on our holidays right now.
What if the situation in the Middle East changes before I travel?
We’re on it – we’re keeping a close eye on any updates, so you don’t have to. If anything changes that could affect your travel plans, we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve confirmed any impact on your holiday.
For extra peace of mind, your holiday is also protected under the Package Travel Regulations, meaning stress-free travels every step of the way.
I’ve heard about jet fuel shortages - will this affect my flight?
There are no immediate concerns and flights are operating as planned. We’re staying in close, regular contact with our airline partners and keeping a watchful eye on any possible disruptions.
If anything changes that could affect your travel plans, we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve confirmed any impact on your holiday. Our priority is making sure you get to and from your holiday as smoothly as possible.
I’ve seen in the news that the cost of my flight may go up due to the jet fuel shortage - will this affect my holiday?
We’re pleased to confirm that we’re not applying any surcharges to our package holidays, so you can book your trip with confidence and complete peace of mind. The price you see when you book is the price you’ll pay for your holiday. All holidays are planned to operate as normal.
What happens if there are delays or cancellations due to the jet fuel shortage?
While disruption is unlikely, if it does happen, you won’t be left figuring things out on your own. We’ll keep you updated and talk you through your options – whether that’s rebooking or making alternative arrangements, all in line with our booking conditions.

Medical treatment
For the time being, reciprocal agreements remain in place in some EU countries enabling citizens of member countries to receive some free medical treatment via the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or the UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC).
If you have an EHIC, this will remain valid until the date of expiry on the card. UK residents are now able to apply for the GHIC, which is free to apply for and provides you with access to emergency and medically necessary healthcare in the EU during your holiday, though this may vary from country to country. They do not provide cover in the event that you require medical repatriation to the UK.
We highly recommend taking out further medical cover as part of your travel insurance and not relying exclusively on these arrangements since they may not be very comprehensive and they do not cover any insurance matters outside of health. It may be that it is a condition of your travel insurance that you have an EHIC/GHIC card covering you for initial treatment.

Passports and visas (The United Kingdom Passport Service)
It is your responsibility to be in possession of a valid passport and any visa that may be necessary. For further information, please see section 1.12 of our Booking Conditions.
If you hold a Commonwealth or non-British passport, please check visa regulations with the embassy or consulate of the country you will be visiting. You should allow ample time when making visa applications and check for any changes in visa/passport requirements that a country may make at any time.
EU Entry/Exit System (EES)
This is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay (up to 90 days within any 180 day period) each time they cross the external borders of European countries, in place from April 2026. This replaces passport stamping and will automate border control procedures. For more information on EES, please visit: General information - European Union (europa.eu).
What to expect at the border:
- You may need to have your fingerprints and a photo taken.
- You may be asked to answer Schengen Border Code questions.
- Upon departure from the Schengen area, you may need to provide either a fingerprint or photo again.
Important for families:
- Children aged 11 and under will provide a photo only.
- Adults and children aged 12 and over will provide both a photo and fingerprints.
Please be aware that processing times at the border may be longer than usual, particularly during busy Lapland travel periods. Although the rollout will be phased over six months, we advise all guests to allow extra time when crossing borders, as we cannot predict how each port will implement the new system.
For more information, please visit the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system
European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)
From late autumn 2026 onwards it is anticipated that the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will be effective, which will require visa-exempt EU nationals, including UK citizens, to hold an electronic authorisation to travel to or within the Schengen Zone (currently 27 EU member states, plus Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus). An ETIAS travel authorisation is a visa waiver which will be required regardless of the length of your visit. Once granted, it will be valid for 3 years or until your passport expires. It can only be applied for online and a fee will be payable unless an exemption applies. If you are unable to travel on your holiday because you have not obtained an ETIAS travel authorisation, our normal cancellation charges will apply. For more information on ETIAS, please visit: What is ETIAS - European Union (europa.eu).
Health
Please refer to the Department of Health for up-to-date advice on immunisations required and advised for travel abroad. You can also obtain travel vaccination advice from the NHS. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate immunisations required for travel and that you have appropriate travel insurance in place for your personal health requirements. Contagious illness such as chicken pox and measles can be present when travelling, so it's important that you make your insurers aware if you are immuno-compromised.
Travel aware
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s 'Know Before You Go' (KBYG) is an ongoing campaign to ensure travellers get adequate travel insurance, have the necessary passport and visa documentation, leave emergency contact information with someone and tell them where you are going, have enough money and have access to emergency funds, visit GPs before travelling as appropriate, familiarise themselves with the destination’s local laws and customs and check the FCDO’s country travel advice. For details, see the FCDO website.
Please note - requirements can change and it is your responsibility to check with the relevant body and ensure you have the necessary and correct documentation and advice.
No deposit
Book your holiday with no deposit when you choose to pay monthly with our new direct debit option. T&C's apply.
Alternatively, you can secure your holiday for just £150pp deposit and your final balance will be due 10 weeks before departure. For some dates we might need to increase the deposit a little to secure your choice of flights.
See our payments page for more information.
Snow guarantee
The weather is an important factor on our Santa’s Lapland holidays; we’re always keeping an eye on the forecast and speaking with our local suppliers.
If we have any cause for concern about the weather conditions, we will endeavour to contact you 7 days before your departure to let you know.
If we and our suppliers believe that there’s not enough snow to run the activities included in your Santa’s Lapland package, we will contact you again 72 hours before travel with an update and advice on the options available to you, which may include cancellation.
In the event that we decide that there is insufficient snow you will have the following choices:
- You can amend your travel dates to any of our other Santa’s Lapland dates that are available in the same season and at no cost, provided that the elements of the holiday (accommodation, room type, duration and party composition) remain the same. If you change any of the holiday elements, you’ll need to pay the difference in price if it is more expensive, or if the new arrangements are cheaper, you will receive a refund of the difference.
- If you decide not to travel at all, you can cancel with a full refund of all monies paid to Santa’s Lapland for the trip.
